Annadhanam

Mahadanam — the greatest charity. Every meal served here is an offering to the Divine Mother and a blessing to all who receive it.

The Sacred Gift of Food

Annadhanam — the offering of food — is regarded in Sanatana Dharma as the supreme act of charity. At Bhooma Devi Temple, we serve nutritious meals daily to devotees, pilgrims, and those in need, without any distinction. Each meal is prepared with devotion, blessed through prayer, and served with the understanding that feeding the hungry is worship of Bhooma Devi herself. Our annadhanam hall welcomes hundreds each day, and during festivals, thousands are fed in a spirit of joyous community seva.

Spiritual Merit of Annadhanam

The scriptures teach that annadhanam generates punya — spiritual merit — that benefits both the giver and the receiver across lifetimes. By supporting annadhanam, you participate in a tradition that: • Nourishes body and soul of those in need • Purifies the mind of the donor through selfless giving • Strengthens community bonds and social harmony • Embodies the Divine Mother's compassion in tangible form • Creates positive karma that uplifts families for generations There is no greater dharma than ensuring no one goes hungry.

How Annadhanam Works

Our annadhanam programme operates daily with the dedication of temple staff and volunteers: 1. Preparation — Fresh ingredients are sourced and meals are cooked in the temple kitchen with devotional chanting 2. Blessing — Food is offered in prayer to Bhooma Devi before serving 3. Serving — Meals are served in the annadhanam hall to all who arrive, free of charge 4. Cleanup — Volunteers complete the sacred cycle of seva with gratitude Donations fund ingredients, kitchen operations, and infrastructure. Volunteers are always welcome to join this blessed work.
